1.) Try taking a short walk after lunch. Not only will it help with digestion (peristalsis) but it will also get you up and moving!
2.) Consider getting a standing workstation if this is an option. Most of these are adjustable and can be used sitting as well, but also have the standing option. That way you stretch those poor hip flexors!

3.) Drink plenty of water while working and take breaks to refill your water. Not only will you stay hydrated but you will get some movement from all of the re-filling and having to use the restroom!

4.) Take a short break to take a few deep breaths. Deep breathing decreases stress, lowers blood pressure, increases energy, reduces anxiety and the list goes on!


5.) Take a few stretch breaks to break the sitting cycle. A forward fold with knees bent or straightened – is one that I enjoy doing! If you bend your knees, its more of a back stretch and if you straighten them it is more of a hamstring stretch.
I hope these little tips can help you if you are sitting for prolonged periods of time!

Small changes and habits can lead to much bigger ones over time.

I am all about keeping things simple and easy and here are 3 ways to improve your immune system:
.
1.) 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: Try to figure out what works best for helping you to lower your stress levels. Try guided meditation, yoga, acupuncture/herbs, exercise, deep breathing, etc. Increased stress levels have been shown to lower our immune system. In Chinese Medicine we have many ways to help patients manage their stress levels through acupuncture, herbs and lifestyle changes.

2.) 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲: Sugar spikes have been shown to lower your immune system by reducing the ability of your white blood cell function- which are important to fight off illnesses. These effects can last up to 5 hours after consumption!
3.) 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁: For sleep, it also depends on the person as far as how many hours that you need. Anywhere from 6-10 hours of sleep per night are needed. Now, if you sleep and don’t feel like you did, that can be considered a form of insomnia as well. You need restful sleep, in order to help keep your immune system strong. Acupuncture and herbs also offer a natural way to increase your quality of sleep, if this is an issue for you. If your pain is keeping you up at night, we can also help with that too!

I suggest starting with one thing first, making small changes, see how you are feeling and continue to make positive changes for your health.  For example, cutting out sugar may seem crazy! So why not start with cutting out drinking sodas or by only having that dessert 1x a week instead of 3x.

At the end of your first session with us, you will be given a Customized Treatment Plan for your specific condition with an approximate number of sessions.

Generally speaking, if you have something that is chronic or bothering you for a long time, then it may take a little longer to heal- but that’s not always the case.

If you have something that just started bothering you- it may be quicker for your body to heal.

Everyone’s bodies are very different and how we all heal is no exception.

I have some patients that I would anticipate taking some time to heal, but then their body surprises me and its much faster than anticipated.

The body has its own timetable that it heals us on.

Unfortunately, we can’t control this healing process but with acupuncture, we can help it along, help guide it and move it further along!

Sometimes, the body just needs guidance and direction and then it can finish the job for you.
